BULAWAYO – Police in Bulawayo are investigating a violent armed robbery that occurred at a local night club in New Lobengula in the early hours of Monday, leaving two employees injured.
The incident took place on September 29, 2025, at around 3 AM. According to police, the 45-year-old female manager from Emakhandeni was at work when she heard a knock at the back door.
Upon opening, she was confronted by two masked men armed with a black pistol, a knife, and an electric shocker.
“The manager screamed for help, prompting one of the assailants to stab her once at the back of the head, resulting in a deep cut,” said Deputy Press and Public Relations Officer, Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu.
Her screams alerted a male colleague who rushed to the scene, only to be met in the corridor by the attackers who also stabbed him once above the right eye.
The duo then proceeded to the cashier and used an electric shocker on her while demanding money. She surrendered a plastic bag containing US$550.00 and her two cellphones.
“When the robbers demanded more money and were not given, they fired a single shot at the front glass door before fleeing through the back door,” Asst. Insp. Ndlovu added.
A police report was filed, and the two injured victims were ferried to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have urged the business community to enhance security measures on their premises to prevent such incidents.
They are also appealing to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to report to the nearest police station.
