Reavaya Royals Kick Off Second Half of Season with 2-0 Win Over Ubuntu Queens

Reavaya Royals began the second half of the Southern Region Division One season on a high note, defeating Ubuntu Queens 2-0 at Saimart Ground in Emganwini on Saturday afternoon.

‎The match kicked off at 13:00hrs, with the Royals starting: Faith, Siyaan, Thelma, Achievement, Linda, Adija Yasini, Dineo Njaya, Trish, Priscilla Sithole (Captain), Lovelyn, and Nokuthaba.

‎Captain Priscilla Sithole set the tone early, calmly slotting home to give the hosts a deserved lead in the 20th minute. The Royals continued to control proceedings, and Dineo Njaya’s confident finish sealed the victory in the 67th minute.

‎Midfielder Adija Yasini was instrumental in the middle,  dictating play with composure and breaking up Ubuntu’s attacks. Her dominant performance earned her the Player of the Week award.

Rea Vaya Royals ‎Coach Dan Ndlovu’s side delivered a disciplined and cohesive display in front of their home supporters, with the Emganwini crowd providing a lively atmosphere.

‎The match was highly anticipated, with Reavaya Royals looking to protect their home turf and continue their #RoadToChampionship campaign. With the theme #Akaphunywa (No Escape), the Royals were fired up and determined to come out on top.

‎Ndlovu had emphasized the importance of ball control and mindset ahead of the match, cautioning against underestimating their opponents.

‎ “Possession is our main focus. We have been refining what we have worked on during the mid-season break,” he said.

‎The win marks Reavaya Royals’ third encounter with Ubuntu Queens, having played them twice before, once earlier this year and once last year in Division 2.

‎With strong support expected at their Emganwini home ground and solid preparations in place, Reavaya Royals were hopeful of continuing their winning form.

‎Reavaya Royals and Ubuntu Queens, both competing in the Southern Region Women’s Division One League, just one tier below the Premier League, faced off in a crucial match with promotion on the line.

‎Ubuntu Queens, known for their strong midfield control and disciplined approach, were looking to quiet the Emganwini crowd and snatch vital points on the road.

‎The Southern Region Division One showdown was more than just a fixture, it was a battle for momentum, pride, and a push up the league table, with both teams eyeing top honors.
