A gruesome discovery was made in Machekera village, Chihota, as Jackson Nhamburo’s body was found buried under river sand along a dry riverbed.
The 29-year-old had been missing for nine agonizing days.
Mashonaland East Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Simon Chazovachii, confirmed the murder investigation.
“Police are investigating a murder case at a village in Chihota. The now deceased was reported to have been kidnapped.”
However, local sources revealed a shocking motive behind the killing.
“Thieves have been causing us sleepless nights in the village. Jackson was found wearing stolen shoes; they bundled him into a truck, drove him to a secluded place, and beat him to death.”
The source added,
“We do not know if he was the one who stole the shoes or if he bought stolen property.”
This senseless act of violence has left the community reeling.
