UK authorities have seized over $300,000 from Phillimon Makekera, a Zimbabwean businessman who runs The Partnership Healthcare Group Ltd, a medical recruitment agency connecting personnel with healthcare facilities and care homes in the UK.
Makekera allegedly scammed Nigerians and Zimbabweans seeking certificates of sponsorship, prompting the UK police to freeze his personal and company bank accounts.
Northamptonshire Police stated,
“The Financial Investigation Unit has secured an Account Forfeiture order… against a bank account held in the name of The Partnership Healthcare Group Ltd and the sole Director, Mr Phillimon Makekera.”
The police also noted that the funds in Makekera’s accounts were “proceeds of criminal activities”.
Makekera, who has lived in the UK for over a decade, holds a Master’s degree in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Gloucestershire. His previous company, Kingdom Personnel Limited, was nominated for a 2012 Great British Care Award.
