The countdown to the new handball season has begun, with the Central Region Handball League (CRHL) officially inviting teams to register for its season-opening spectacle.

The Central Region Open Season Tournament is scheduled to take place in Kadoma on Saturday, 7 March 2026.

The CRHL extended the invitation to all handball clubs, schools, colleges, institutions, and universities across the region. The tournament is designed to serve as the official curtain-raiser for the 2026 season, with the primary goals of boosting participation, fostering healthy competition, and scouting new talent.

“The tournament serves as the official opening competition for the 2026 season and aims to promote participation, competition and talent development within the Central Region,” read the invitation.

Tournament Details and Registration

Interested teams are encouraged to register promptly to secure their spot in the competition. While the specific venue within Kadoma is yet to be finalized, the league has assured participants that the location and full fixture lists will be communicated directly to all registered teams ahead of game day.

To allow for adequate planning and coordination, the CRHL has set a deadline for entries. All teams wishing to participate must confirm their involvement and submit their team details to the Office of the Secretary General no later than 3 March 2026.

Beyond the thrill of opening the season, the tournament promises added incentive for top performers. The league has confirmed that a range of prizes will be up for grabs, set to be awarded to both outstanding teams and exceptional individual players.

The CRHL Executive urged all stakeholders to take part and contribute to the growth of the sport. “The League looks forward to your participation and continued cooperation in the development of handball within the region,” the statement concluded.

With the deadline fast approaching, teams across the Central Region are expected to finalize their line-ups as they gear up for what promises to be an action-packed start to the 2026 handball calendar.
