BULAWAYO – A 21-year-old man, Beizel Mudimu appeared before the Tredgold Magistrates’ Court facing charges of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs, after he was allegedly found in possession of dagga in the Central Business District (CBD).
According to court’s case, Mudimu was apprehended on the 2nd of December 2025 at the corner of Leopold Takawira and Lobengula Street, where he was allegedly found with 5 grams of dagga without a valid licence or permit.
He was escorted to station and handed over to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Drugs and Narcotics for further management.
Beizel Mudimu was charged with a crime of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs as defined in Section 157 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23]. He was sentenced to 350 hours of community service.
This case shows:
• How authorities continue to clamp down on drug possession and substance abuse, particularly among youths in urban centres.
- It serves as a warning to the public, especially young people about the legal consequences of possessing illegal substances even small amounts.
- It underlines the importance of drug education, youth engagement, and preventive strategies in communities to combat substance abuse.
One bad choice can cost a lifetime, say no to drugs.
