Bulawayo – A 41-year-old man, Tafadzwa Makombe, has been remanded in custody after he appeared before the Tredgold Magistrates’ Court facing robbery charges from a violent attack that occurred at Manwele Beer Garden.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), on 29 October 2025, Makombe and his alleged accomplices ambushed and assaulted a 47-year-old man, Nkosi Moyo at the main gate of the beer hall.

“The gang used bricks and a walking crutch to strike the victim before robbing him of a Vilion 40 cellphone and a wallet containing US$32”.

In a statement it further states that, the complainant sustained injuries to the head, chest, back, and mouth and later filed a police report, which led to the arrest of the accused.

“The stolen items valued at US$115 and they were not recovered”.

Makombe was denied bail and is being held in custody. The matter was remanded to 14 November 2025 for further proceedings.

The National Prosecuting Authority has reiterated the seriousness with which the justice system views violent robberies, particularly those involving the use of force. Offenders, they warned, will face stern consequences under the law.

“The courts take note of violent conduct, particularly where force is being used to dispossess victims of their property. Robbery remains a serious offense and offenders will be dealt in accordance with the law”.
