UMGUZA – A 21-year-old woman from Umguza has been arrested after a domestic argument with her boyfriend turned fatal, with police alleging she struck him with a brick, leading to his instant death.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Sauerstown confirmed the arrest of Getrude Mpofu in connection with the murder of 29-year-old Norman Ndlovu. The incident occurred at Plot 1, Hellensvale, on October 12, 2025.
A Heated Argument Turns Deadly
According to police reports, the couple was involved in a heated misunderstanding that rapidly escalated into violence.
In a moment of rage, Mpofu allegedly picked up a brick and struck Ndlovu once on the head. The force of the single blow was fatal.
“Ndlovu died instantly on the scene,” police confirmed in a statement.
His body has been transported to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for a post-mortem examination as investigations into the tragic event continue.
Police Urge for Peaceful Conflict Resolution
In their official update, the ZRP Sauerstown confirmed the arrest and used the incident to appeal to the public.
“We confirm the arrest of Getrude Mpofu in connection with the murder case,” said the police.
They further urged the community to seek non-violent means to resolve disputes, emphasising that “violence only destroys families and futures.”
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the devastating consequences of domestic conflicts.
