Bulawayo- A 34-year-old man from Matshemhlophe, Ronald Shumba appeared in court after he was caught with two containers of suspected stolen diesel at the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) Diesel Shed.
The incident took place on 10 October 2025 at around 9pm, when Shumba was stopped by the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) security guard while during a blue Honda Fit.
“Shumba was stopped at the NRZ main gate while driving a blue Honda Fit
“Security guard Gerald Dhliwayo (25), who was on duty searched the vehicle and found two 30-litre containers filled with diesel”.
Shumba allegedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation or proof of ownership of the fuel upon being caught. He was apprehended at the exit gate, and the diesel was recovered.
Shumba was charged with the crime of theft as defined in Section 113(1) of the Criminal Law ( Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23. He is currently facing charges with pending further court proceedings.
As this case unfolds, it underscores the need for accountability in the transportation and storage of fuel, it serves as a reminder of the role vigilance and law enforcement play in curbing such crimes.
