HARARE – Controversial Zanu PF figure Killer Zivhu has launched a sharp critique against members of the Apostolic sect, accusing them of misleading the nation by offering prophetic endorsements for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s 2030 development agenda.
In a social media post on Monday, Zivhu directly challenged the religious group’s influence in political matters, stating, “Mapositori anoda shamhu, ndivo vachatiurayira Nyika, ne zviporofita zvavo zvokum*ma, hanzi Mwari vati darikirai 2028 ndizvo zvataura Gabireri mutumwa muzvirege zvinhu zvenyu izvozvo.” (The Apostolics who want fame are the ones who will curse our nation with their false prophecies, saying God has said wait for 2028, as said by the angel Gabriel – stop these things of yours.)
Zivhu’s remarks highlight growing tensions at the intersection of religion and politics in Zimbabwe, particularly as the country navigates complex political dynamics within the ruling party.
“It is unacceptable that religious figures are being used to justify political agendas that threaten the sovereignty of our country,” Zivhu added in his statement.
“Zimbabweans must not be misled by prophets who serve political interests instead of God.”
The confrontation emerges against the backdrop of escalating tensions within Zanu PF, where President Mnangagwa continues to navigate a protracted power struggle with his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga. Zivhu’s comments suggest concerns that some religious leaders are taking sides in political contests, lending spiritual validation to specific political timelines and agendas.
The incident underscores the increasingly complex relationship between religious institutions and political processes in Zimbabwe, particularly as various factions position themselves in relation to Mnangagwa’s 2030 roadmap.
