As we approach the end of September, the first month of the third economic quarter of the year, we find that the supposed savior currency Zimbabwean Gold popularity known as ZiG
has once again lost value in the market.
The ZiG annual inflation rate fell by 11.1 percentage points to 82.7% in September, driven by a slowdown in the price of goods in local currency. In August, the annual inflation rate stood at 93.8%. Similarly, the US dollar annual inflation rate also eased, declining to 13.4% in September from 14.2% in August.
In its recently released inflation and trade data for September 2025, the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat) reported the figures.
“The ZiG year-on-year inflation rate (annual percentage change) for the month of September 2025, as measured by the all-items ZiG Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 82.7%. This means that prices, as measured by the all-items ZiG CPI, increased by an average of 82.7% from September 2024 to September 2025.”
In US dollars, annual inflation fell to 13.4% in September from 14.2% in August, while the monthly inflation rate remained unchanged. ZimStat said:
