Fort Rixon – A 22-year-old man from Fort Rixon, Taurai Madubeko, has been convicted of attempted rape and unlawful entry following a disturbing incident that occurred in Village Mkhansi, under Chief Jahana, on 4 September 2025.

Madubeko appeared before the Tredgold Magistrates’ Court after he broke into a 22-year-old woman’s home in the middle of the night and physically assaulted her.

According to court records, the incident happened around midnight. Madubeko went to the complainant’s homestead and knocked on her door, asking for her husband, who was not home at the time. After discovering that she was alone, he reportedly forced his way into the bedroom by banging the door three times.

“Once inside, he assaulted the woman by punching her three times in the face, once in the stomach, and scratching her on the face”.

The complainant managed to push him away, causing him to fall and flee the scene.

The woman later reported the matter and sought medical attention. Madubeko was arrested and charged under Section 131 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23] for unlawful entry with intent to commit a crime.

He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment and ordered to attend counseling sessions at Shangwe Primary School.

This case underscores the urgent need for community awareness around consent, respect, and legal boundaries particularly among youth. Authorities continue to urge the public to report all forms of gender-based violence and unlawful conduct.
