HARARE – Renowned musician Baba Harare has made a definitive return to his pioneering Jiti sound, following a brief and challenging foray into gospel music that he says was met with disappointment and a lack of acceptance.
The artist, who first rose to prominence as the lead guitarist for Jah Prayzah, shocked fans with his switch to gospel, a move he admits “broke many hearts.”
However, the genre failed to provide the creative and professional fulfillment he had hoped for.
Reflecting on the experience, the musician candidly shared his frustration, stating that he faced challenges and rejection within the gospel space, which did not embrace him as his original Jiti audience had.
In a clear message about his decision to return to his roots, Baba Harare took to Instagram with a powerful statement for his followers.
“Go where you are celebrated,” he wrote. “Jiti family where am I seeing you? Birmingham or Harare?”
