Bulawayo City FC, Amakhosi, are hoping to be back on their feet despite the injuries that have hit their squad.
Amakhosi lost their first Premier Soccer League match to Ngezi Platinum Stars by 5-0 away from home.
Despite that heavy defeat to the Platinum miners, Bulawayo City FC coach, Philani Ncube believes they learnt their lesson and they are now stronger to withstand the pressure of Premier Soccer league fixtures.
Talking to Zim GBC News after the press conference on Thursday, Ncube said they have done enough preparations for the coming match.
“We lost as a team, it was a lesson learnt, we haven’t done much after losing the match to Ngezi Platinum but we have done our preparations positively” he said.
“We are not going to look for 5 goals or 4 goals but we are going to look for three points” added the coach.
When the PSL postponed matches to due withdrawal of referees, Amakhosi were able to utilise this time to correct their mistakes at training.
“The postponing of matches by the PSL was very very important to me, if we played Manica after that heavy defeat to Ngezi it was going to be another disaster, we were so down as a team but we have managed to rise again as a team.” Ncube added.
Amakhosi have injuries that have dominated in their camp as the coach confirmed that five players will be missing in the next match.
“There are a lot of injuries in the team, I can confirm that five players will be missing (for the next match).” said Ncube.
“These player include Shelton Sibanda who has an ankle injury, Bheki a midfielder who got injured against Ngezi will also be out for perhaps the next 8-9 weeks, then we have Mgcini who also suffered a knee injury and the other defensive midfielder who had terrible headache.” explained Ncube
“The fifth player to miss the next fixture against Manica Diamonds will be Wisdom Mutasa who just disappeared, he didn’t show up for training for the past week.” added Ncube.
Philani Ncube emphasized that he can not share with the media, concerning the Mutasa issue.
Bulawayo City FC accommodates players from different parts of the country but their main catchment areas are the Bulawayo City Council Schools.
Philani Ncube is ready to give youngsters a chance to prove themselves that they have what it takes to wear the Bulawayo City FC jersey .
“I am not scared to throw in an U-17 as long as he proves that he is worthy, Bulawayo City as part of Arsenal foundation we have our objectives we are not even gunning for the championship, top eight or any silverware but we have to mantain the franchise” added Ncube.
“We maintain our franchise by having our own cultured players who really understand what is Bulawayo.” said Ncube.
Bulawayo City FC are on the bottom of the premier league table with the heaviest defeat in their first game to Ngezi Platinum Stars.
Coach Philani Ncube confirmed that the boys are now back on their feet and he is confident that good results are coming this weekend.
