The role of the referee has been questioned after controversial decisions were made at the win by Dynamos FC over Yadah FC at the weekend.

Yadah fans were irked by the centre man as they felt there was lack of justice in the match pitting Glamour Boys against Yadah FC played on Sunday at National Sports stadium.

“Instead of the referee becoming the match official he actually became the 12th player for Dynamos” said supporter on facebook.

The Glamour Boys won Matchday one of the 2021 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League with a one nil win over Yadah FC sponsored by self proclaimed prophet Magaya of the Prophetic, Healing and Deliverance Ministries.

The Glamour boys led with the solitary goal of the match after Shadreck Nyahwa scored a header from a cross by Albert Eonde in the 62nd minute.

While the match did not live to its top billing expectations Dynamos FC centre back Patson Jaure sparked the flame between the two sides as he used high boot challenge against Yadah FC player Godfrey Mukambi but he only came out with a yellow card.

Football supporters felt that it should have been a red card for the Dynamos skipper.

According to Laws of The Game and FA rules, such a tackle deserves a straight red card.

Law 12 : Foul and Misconduct State that a direct free kick is awarded if a player commits harsh tackle if its in the penalty box a penalty is awarded

The match continued as  more controverse ensued at the gaint National sports stadium.

Jaure then clearly blocked with his hand a goal bound shot which could have led to an equaliser by Yadah FC 20 minutes before the game ended.

Instead of awarding a penalty kick to Yadah FC the referee signalled for a corner kick.

Yadah players tried to appeal for a penalty but the referee was adamant with his decision.

Dynamos Coach Tonderai Ndiraya said “A win is a win I do not care how the team played as long as they bring 3 points to the tables”

Meanwhile the Zimbabwe Football Association Referee’s Committee has banned the Midlands based referee, Munyaradzi Makoni for two months following his controversial handling of the match.

In a letter addressed to Majoni the Secretary-General of the referees’ Committee Obert Zhoya said,

“The Zimbabwe Football Association Referee’s Committee wishes to inform you that you have been suspended from football refereeing with immediate effect for a period of two months.”

“This follows your poor performance during the league match at the NSS (National Sports Stadium), on Sunday 7 November 2021 between Dynamos and Yadah.”
