The accident occurred along Leopold Takawira Avenue between Josiah Tongogara and Samuel Parirenyatwa streets where a pedestrian was run over towards Thursday midnight.

His body was taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for postmortem.

“The accident might have been caused by excessive speeding under the circumstances by the unknown motorist hence charges of culpable homicide will be preferred against the unknown motorist,” Insp. Ncube said

The police do not condone such accidents as most of them occur due to human error as motorists tend to speed and be less attentive to their surroundings.

During the night, motorists especially the younger age, tend to speed along the streets if Bulawayo going through traffic lights or against the flow of traffic. More often they will be drunk.

As there will be no police presence, some of these rogue motorists perform drags right in the middle of the streets.

“Motorists are urged to apply themselves fully to save life and avoid unnecessary accidents,” Insp Ncube emphasised.
