US State Department Vows Action Against Foreigners Glorifying Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

WASHINGTON – The US State Department has announced it will take “appropriate action,” including potential visa revocations, against any foreign nationals within the United States who are found praising the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

The stern warning was issued by Deputy Secretary of State Chris Landau on Thursday, following the killing of Kirk, a prominent figure known for his strong conservative stance and vocal opposition to gay, lesbian, and transgender rights, which he often framed as a threat to traditional American values.

Authorities state the sniper who assassinated Kirk remains at large after firing a single shot from a high-powered rifle and fleeing the scene.

“In light of yesterday’s horrific assassination of a leading political figure, I want to underscore that foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country,” Landau wrote in a post on his official X account.

“I have been disgusted to see some on social media praising, rationalizing, or making light of the event, and have directed our consular officials to undertake appropriate action,” he said, urging the public to report such comments by foreigners directly to him.

Landau indicated that consular officers would be directed to monitor responses to his post. In a separate reply, he was more explicit, stating that if the identity of a foreign individual making light of the shooting was discovered, “we’ll revoke her visa. Immediately.”

The administration has recently been aggressive in its visa revocation policy, particularly targeting students with ties to protests against the war in Gaza.

Landau has publicly embraced this role, recently referring to himself on social media as “El Quitavisa,” Spanish for “the visa remover.”

Authorities continue their manhunt for the unidentified suspect, confirming they have recovered the bolt-action rifle believed to be used in the attack and are reviewing relevant video footage.
