The City of Bulawayo continues to assist the government with the inocolution exercise.
The City of Bulawayo and other centres around have continued to give the Covid-19 jabs. As per the Ministry of Health and Child Care guidelines, the clinics are administering Dose 1, Dose 2 and the Booster doses.
The booster dose is given 6 months after one has received the second dose.
A booster shot is an additional Covid-19 dose of a vaccine given after the protection provided for by the original shot(s) has begun to wean out over time. The booster helps people maintain strong protection from the severe corona virus.
Vaccination is needed to protect self and others, it reduces the likelihood of needing to visit a health care facility for evaluation and hospitalisation for the respiratory disease.
Scientists have proved that vaccines for Covid-19 works against all variants. Imbalance of vaccine inequality will give the virus more opportunity to spread and mutate.
Bulawayo City Council health department said in a statement,
“Vaccination sites have also been established to administer initial, second and booster doses.”
The Covaxin booster dose is available in the following clinics:
Nkulumane, Nketa, Luveve, Pumula, Princess Margaret Rose, Mzilikazi, Mater Dei private hospital, Masca and City Hall.
Unfortunately there has been a lull in the uptake of vaccination.
Cabinet, nonetheless, notes with concern the decline in the number of vaccines administered during the past reporting week, compared to last week. Thus, government, has announced that there would be a blitz to ensure that the nation reaches head immunity.
“The nation is also advised that preparations are underway for the planned national vaccination blitz. The Blitz will include the 12-15 year age group.”
To date, a total of 4 364 434 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
Zimbabwes cumulative Covid-19 cases stood at 236 380, with 226 394 recoveries and 8 395 deaths. The recovery rate was 96%, with 4 591 active cases being recorded.
Members of the public seem to have forgot the importance of masking up, social distancing and getting vaccinated, only a few have been jabbed with the Booster shot.
A number of people where asked if they have taken the Booster shot and most of them seem not to be aware what it is, or have the urge to take it.
One of them asked “What is that”
Citizens who have not yet been vaccinated are advised to get vaccinated since we are not yet out of the woods.
