ZRP Releases Names of 21 Victims Killed in Three Horrific Accidents Over Three Days

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has officially released the names of 21 individuals who tragically lost their lives in three separate road accidents over three consecutive days. The fatal collisions occurred in Mutare, Juru, and Masvingo, sending shockwaves across the nation and leaving multiple families in mourning.

The police confirmed that the victims’ next of kin have been notified before making the identities public. The list includes men, women, and young children, highlighting the devastating impact of the accidents on communities.

The first accident occurred on Wednesday, 28th August 2025, along the Mutare-Masvingo Road at the 46-kilometre peg, claiming six lives. The victims were identified as:

· Godfrey Chikosi (45), male adult, Rowa East, Zimunya, Mutare
· Vincent Museza (32), male adult, Rowa East, Zimunya, Mutare
· Patience Musabayana (30), female adult, Mafuke Village, Zimunya, Mutare
· Melissa Chigonde (22), female adult, Zindi, Honde Valley
· Anna Mudzingwa, female adult, Rowa East, Zimunya, Mutare
· Maybe Mundondo, female adult, Rowa East, Zimunya, Mutare

A day later, on Thursday, 29th August, a devastating crash on the Harare-Nyamapanda Road at the 49-kilometre peg in Juru resulted in the death of seven members of the same family. The victims included:

· Sunday Stenlodge (23), male adult, Binga Village, Domboshava
· Fadzai Kamurai (25), female adult, Parirewa Village, Domboshava
· Lin Nyamhunga, female infant (4), Parirewa Village, Domboshava
· Nyasha Nyamhunga, male infant (6 months), Parirewa Village, Domboshava
· Matilda Dzangu (28), female adult, Parirewa Village, Domboshava
· Kersey Matangaidza, female infant (2), Kuwadzana 5, Harare
· Tariro Matangaidza, female juvenile (15), Kuwadzana 5, Harare

The third tragedy struck on Friday, 30th August, along the Mutare-Masvingo Road at the 246-kilometre peg in Masvingo, where eight people died. The victims were named as:

· Moses Nyazika (47), male adult, Mutare
· Tamari Nyakabau (39), female adult, Link Road, Mutare
· Juliet Mabika (33), female adult, Nyanyadzi
· Happymore Mhuka (37), male adult, Chikanga, Mutare
· Everson Chazvino (24), male adult, ZIMTA, Mutare
· Tafadzwa Jacopo (27), female adult, ZIMTA, Mutare
· Maybe Mazuwa (44), female adult, Pangholin, Masvingo
· Clever Murwei (46), male adult, Chikanga, Mutare

In a somber statement, the ZRP extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and issued a urgent appeal to motorists.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police extends deepest condolences to the families of the victims. We appeal to drivers to seriously consider road safety while moving on the country’s roads,” the statement read.
