HARARE – The Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) has become the centre of attraction at the ongoing Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS), with its stand experiencing a huge influx of motorists eager to take advantage of a limited-time discount offer on vehicle licensing.
The authority has set up a dedicated zone with 14 service counters in a bid to manage the overwhelming demand and reduce long queues as thousands seize the opportunity to regularise their vehicles at a significantly reduced cost.
Dubbed the “Mega Licensing Promotion,” the initiative offers a three-tier discount system: a 50% discount on penalties for late licence renewals, a full 100% waiver for all senior citizens aged 65 and above, and a 25% to 30% discount on current vehicle licence renewals.
The promotion, which is also available at all Zinara offices and countrywide agents, will run until Friday, August 30, 2025.
A Zinara official at the show confirmed the enthusiastic public response, stating:
“The turnout has been overwhelming. Motorists from all over are using this opportunity to comply with the law at a reduced cost. We have deployed extra staff and opened multiple counters to ensure efficient service and minimise waiting time for our valued customers.”
Many motorists at the show expressed relief at the chance to clear their pending penalties. One motorist, Tendai Chikwava, said,
“I’ve been delaying renewing my licence because of the high penalty fees. This 50% discount is a huge relief and has encouraged me to become compliant.”
The promotion is seen as a major win for senior citizens, who can now licence their vehicles for free.
