Six Zimbabwean Referees Appointed for U-17 AFCON COSAFA Qualifiers

‎The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has proudly announced the appointment of six Zimbabwean match officials who will officiate at the upcoming U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) COSAFA Qualifiers. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Harare from 11 to 20 September 2025.

‎The appointed officials are Thanks Nyahuye, Lawrence Zimondi, Dominica Melusi, Brighton Chimene, Ruzive Ruzive, and Morris Banda. These referees are expected to join the COSAFA delegation in Harare on 5 September 2025, ahead of the competition.

‎ZIFA extended its heartfelt congratulations to the officials, commending them for their professionalism, hard work, and commitment to improving refereeing standards in Zimbabwe.

‎ The association noted that the appointments reflect the growing recognition of Zimbabwean referees at regional and international levels.

‎“This is a proud moment for the country. These appointments reflect not only the individual commitment of our officials but also the progress we are making in raising officiating standards nationally,” a statement of ZIFA .

‎The U-17 AFCON COSAFA Qualifiers are expected to attract top youth talent from across Southern Africa. With Zimbabwe as the host nation, the participation of local referees will further highlight the country’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to continental football development.
