Bulawayo- Five men appeared at Tredgold Magistrates Court facing firearms-related charges after they were allegedly found in possession of an unlicensed pistol and ammunition.
According to court records, the accused, Vumani Msipa (30), Qhawe Mabhena (43), Conelious Chigara (25), Nkosilomusa Dube (26), and Mongameli Moyo (25), were intercepted at the Beitbridge-Gwanda Tollgate on 21 November 2024.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the suspects were travelling in a dark blue Nissan Note (registration AFZ 4527) when they were stopped.
“A search of the vehicle and its occupants led to the recovery of a pistol with erased serial numbers and a loaded magazine. Three additional .32 calibre live rounds were found in one suspect’s trouser pocket”, said Detective Kelvin Muzambi.
“None of the accused produced permits authorising possession of the firearm or ammunition which led to the arrest of all the five suspects on the spot”, he said.
The suspects were arrested and appeared in court under the Firearms Act Chapter 10:09, with their judgment being held on 27 August 2025.
As the case unfolds, police urge members of the public to report suspicious activities and assist in the fight against violent crime.
