HARARE – In a week that celebrated humility and faith beyond the pulpit, two major stories captured the hearts of Zimbabweans online: gospel music icon Charles “Baba” Charamba went viral for an impromptu street performance, while flamboyant businessman Wicknell Chivayo surprised street preacher Prophet Inzwirashe Matema with a brand-new Toyota Fortuner and US$50,000.

Charamba’s Humble Street “Robot” Session Wins Hearts

A video of renowned gospel musician Baba Charamba jamming with a street vendor at a busy intersection quickly set social media ablaze, earning widespread praise for his down-to-earth nature.

The clip shows Charamba, one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated gospel artists, joining a young vendor who was passionately singing his hit song “Sodom NeGomorrah”. The spontaneous duet, described by many as a “robot session,” highlighted Charamba’s accessibility and connection with people from all walks of life.

Fans and fellow artists flooded social media with commendations. One fan wrote:

“This Charamba has groomed all kinds of generations with his songs. We expect all famous celebrities to do the same with their fans.”

Another added:

“For a moment, I thought it was actually Pastor Charamba singing. Such talents need to be recognised and developed.”

Top musician Jah Prayzah also showed respect, sharing on his Instagram story:

“Respect my Legend.”

Chivayo Blesses Street Preacher with Fortuner and US$50,000

In a separate but equally uplifting story, businessman Wicknell Chivayo gifted street evangelist Prophet Inzwirashe Matema a brand-new 2025 Toyota Fortuner and US$50,000 in cash to support his ministry.

Chivayo announced the generous donation on his official Facebook page in a post titled

“THE HOLY SPIRIT FROM 1st STREET…”, where he praised Matema’s humility and dedication to preaching in the streets.

“I have come to realize that the HUMILITY of mankind is the highest HONOUR and EXALTATION of God,” Chivayo wrote.

“This is why I hold in VERY HIGH respect, Men of God who choose to preach in the STREETS… Today I want to recognize PROPHET INZWIRASHE MATEMA.”

He continued:

“In recognition of your HUMBLE service, please go and see Victor at Exquisite Motors and collect your brand-new 2025 TOYOTA FORTUNER… In addition, you will receive USD50,000 IN CASH to support your MINISTRY.”

Prophet Matema, known for his powerful open-air sermons, often preaches to pedestrians and vendors in Harare’s city center. Chivayo emphasized that true ministry isn’t about glamorous pulpits but faithfulness and humility.
