BULAWAYO – A 26-year-old Iminyela man has been remanded in custody after pleading guilty to stabbing his twin brother twice in the head during a violent argument over leftover isitshwala and chicken.
Maqhawe Ncube appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Archie Wochiwunga on physical abuse charges following the July 23 incident that left his brother, Mabutho Ncube, with serious injuries requiring hospital treatment.
Prosecutor Audrey Kufandikanwe detailed the altercation to the court:
“On that date, Maqhawe and his twin brother, Mabutho Ncube, were at their residence when an argument broke out over leftover isitshwala and chicken. In a fit of anger, the accused grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his brother twice on the head.”
The court heard that the violent confrontation occurred around 7PM at their family home. Following the attack, Mabutho sustained deep cuts and was rushed to medical facilities for emergency treatment.
Police investigations led to Maqhawe’s arrest, and he has been remanded in custody until tomorrow for sentencing.
