Chicken Inn Fumes Over Chirinda’s Transfer

JEREMIAH HARRISON

Chicken Inn Football Club has accused the Premier Soccer League of failing to follow its procedures in player transfer.

This came after Chicken Inn wrote a letter to PSL requesting the body to withdraw the registration of Obriel Chirinda claiming that his registration was improperly done with his new club Bulawayo Chiefs.

In a letter to the PSL, Chicken Inn Secretary Tavengwa Hara questioned whether registration procedures have changed.

According to the letter by Chicken Inn, the player Chirinda is said to have signed for Chicken Inn for 2021/22 season, at the same time PSL registered him for Bulawayo Chiefs without Chicken Inn clearing him.

“We are surprised that you registered the above named player (Obriel Chirinda) who was also registered by our club for the 2021/2022 season. You registered the player to play for Bulawayo Chiefs without our club clearing him or having a request from the player or the club clearing him,” read part of the letter from Hara.

This is not the first time the same incident has happened, according to Hara’s letter it happened before to Valentine Kadonzvo, Tichaona Chipunza and now history has repeated itself with Chirinda.

Hara asked for Chirinda’s registration to be withdrawn or else the matter will be taken to the courts of law.

“May his licence be withdrawn as the player was improperly registered. We look forward to the withdrawal of his licence as we don’t want to approach the courts to have him barred because you are not following your own set registration rules. Be guided accordingly and failure to comply we are eager to set an example,” reads the letter.

Chirinda moved to Bulawayo Chiefs during the January transfer window and scored the second goal for Bulawayo Chiefs in the 2-0 win over FC Platinum at Luveve stadium at the weekend.
