Bulawayo- Police in Bulawayo are investigating a murder case following the fatal stabbing of a 24-year-old man, Mphekezeli Freeman Ncube, that took place in the Central Business District(CBD) in the early hours on 10 August 2025.
The incident is reportedly to have occurred at around 03:30 AM along J. Moyo Street, between 11th and 12th Avenues, near the workplace of a security guard.
According to a statement by the Zimbabwe Republic Police, an unknown man knocked on the door of the security guard, informing him that the victim, his friend, had been attacked and was lying injured nearby.
The security guard and the informer rushed to the scene, where they found the victim on the ground with multiple stab wounds on the chest and bleeding profusely.
An ambulance was called, and he was rushed to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon his arrival.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary movements at night and to report suspicious activity.
Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, the Press and Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
“We warn members of the public to desist from violence and urge anyone with information to come forward and assist with investigations,” she said.
This tragic case is a reminder that Bulawayo is no longer safe after dark, more visible policing, CCTV monitoring, and public vigilance is needed.
