ELDERLY CARETAKER AXED AFTER SEX REFUSAL; SECOND FATAL ATTACK OVER REJECTION ROCKS ZIMBABWE

BULAWAYO – An 85-year-old caretaker is fighting for his life in hospital after a woman brutally attacked him with an axe when he rejected her sexual demand, police confirmed to Zim GBC News.

The harrowing incident occurred around 5 PM on August 10 at a plot in Kensington.

According to Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, the suspect – known to the elderly victim – entered his room and made an unwelcome sexual advance.

“When the complainant refused, the suspect grabbed an axe from the room and struck him once on the right side of the neck,” Inspector Msebele stated.

“The victim sustained a deep cut and reported the matter to the police. An ambulance ferried him to hospital for treatment.”

In a separate but chillingly similar case, Kwekwe police have arrested two men – Thembinkosi Ndlovu (22) and Nkosinomusa Moyo (24) – for the murder of 40-year-old Rosemary Diana.

Authorities report that Diana was attacked at Mutegude Shops, Redcliff, on August 10 after rejecting Moyo’s romantic advances. Ndlovu allegedly beat her with a cooking stick while Moyo stabbed her in the back. Diana died at the scene.

Police Appeal for Calm and Information:

Inspector Msebele urged the public to assist in locating the female suspect in the Bulawayo attack, emphasizing:

“We appeal for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect. The public is urged to resolve disputes peacefully and reject all forms of violence.”

Regarding the Kwekwe murder, police confirmed both suspects are in custody and will face murder charges.

These back-to-back violent attacks, both triggered by rejection, have sparked outrage and renewed calls for action against gender-based violence in Zimbabwe.
