Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – The trial of Tyson Lunga, a 36-year-old Milton High School teacher and Pentecostal pastor, began last week in a case that has sent shockwaves through the education and religious communities. Lunga faces multiple charges of indecent assault and inappropriate conduct involving male students at the all-boys institution.
Presided over by Magistrate Beverly Madzikatire, the case saw six juvenile complainants testify behind closed doors, with three more expected to take the stand when proceedings resume on 15 August 2025.
“He Offered Me $10 for Sex”: Students Detail Alleged Abuse
Prosecutor Samuel Mpofu presented disturbing WhatsApp messages and witness accounts alleging that Lunga—also a Scripture Union patron—groomed students with cash, food, and gym membership offers in exchange for sexual acts.
In one incident detailed in court documents, Lunga allegedly told a 17-year-old student he (student) was handsome and wanted to have sex with him. When the boy ignored him, Lunga reportedly ambushed him, hugging him and groping his buttocks.

A fourth victim reported Lunga discussing homosexuality during a walk in Bulawayo’s CBD. The matter was escalated to the school’s boarding master.
Most chillingly, an 18-year-old revealed Lunga allegedly boasted about keeping a “list of students he wanted to sleep with” and claimed shoe size determined genital proportions.
Lunga’s Defense: “I’m a Victim of Rumors”
The accused—who previously taught at Magwegwe High—denied all charges, blaming two colleagues for “orchestrating a smear campaign” over longstanding rumors about his sexuality.
“This is a witch hunt,” his legal team argued.
The case continues amid calls for stricter safeguarding in schools.
