A man’s body was found lying face down in a stream in Bulawayo’s suburb of Trenance.

A passerby was walking along the road going to a tuck shop in the area, when she approached a crossway on the stream bank she saw a body of a male, which was half naked with his trousers on the knee level.

According to the Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Abednico the woman immediately alerted some Trenance Residents who then attended to the scene.

Efforts to identify the deceased were futile as no one was able to place a name on him. The same woman who had identified the body had also made a report to the police.

The man is approximately 50 years of age. He was wearing a stripped red and black T-shirt, black and white All-Star tennis shoes. He had grey short hair.

“Observations made were that the deceased could have been swept away by a flooded stream as all the grass and trees lying down towards the direction of the flow of water.

“The body was also examined and no visible injuries were noted. The body was ferried to United Bulawayo Hospitals for post-mortem and investigations are underway.”

Insp. Ncube is appealing to members of the public with a missing relative to come forward and identify the deceased person.

“Members of the public are warned against crossing flooded rivers and streams. Parents and guardians should also educate children on the dangers of playing in either flowing or stagnant waters whose depth will not be known.”
