Highlanders finally returned to winning form with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Greenfuel in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Matchday 20 clash at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday — their first win since parting ways with former head coach Kelvin Kaindu.

Mafious Chihweta was the hero for Bosso, netting the decisive goal in the 39th minute to seal the much-needed three points. The win ended Highlanders’ three-match winless run and lifted them to eighth place on the league table with 27 points.

Highlanders FC have climbed to 8th place on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League log after 20 matches, sitting on 27 points. Bosso’s recent 1-0 win over Greenfuel was a crucial result that ended a three-match winless streak and marked their first victory in the post-Kelvin Kaindu era. With six wins, nine draws, and five defeats, they now boast a positive goal difference of +5. Meanwhile, Greenfuel FC continue to struggle near the bottom of the table. After their defeat to Highlanders, they remain rooted in 14th place with just 20 points from 20 games. Their campaign has been plagued by inconsistency, and with only four wins all season and a goal difference of -5, the pressure is mounting to avoid slipping further into the relegation dogfight.

Meanwhile, in the capital, CAPS United were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by relegation-threatened Triangle United at Rufaro Stadium. The Green Machine found themselves behind after Hastings Chapusha inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.

Chapusha, however, made amends late in the game, winning a free kick that was coolly converted by Ishmael Wadi to snatch a point for Makepekepe in the dying moments. The draw sees CAPS United slip to 11th on the log, while Triangle United remain anchored in the relegation zone

It was a thrilling Saturday in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League as several key fixtures shook up the standings:

  • TelOne FC edged Dynamos 1-0 in a tight contest at Ascot Stadium, piling more pressure on the Harare giants.
  • Yadah FC pulled off a shock 1-0 win over high-flying MWOS, denting the visitors’ title push.
  • In the clash of the titans, Scottland FC stunned defending champions Ngezi Platinum Stars 2-1 at Baobab Stadium, making a strong case for their top-four ambitions.
  • Simba Bhora continued their charge at the summit with a dramatic 3-2 win over Herentals College, keeping pace at the top.
  • FC Platinum grabbed a narrow but vital 1-0 win against Chicken Inn, boosting their bid to stay in contention.
  • It ended goalless between ZPC Kariba and Manica Diamonds, with both sides missing chances to climb the log.
  • Bikita Minerals secured a crucial 1-0 victory over bottom-placed Kwekwe United, giving their survival hopes a much-needed lift.
