Harare giants CAPS United were recently hit by player exodus during the January window transfer as players left in search for greener pastures to well resourced lower division teams, some within the Castle Larger Premier Soccer League teams. Chaos continues in the team as players are reported to be on strike.

Last week on Friday CAPS United players refused to train claiming that they have not been paid their salaries.

Some players were interviewed by Backpost Magazine they poured their hearts out.

“We haven’t been paid as promised and we will not train until they honour their promise. It’s as simple as that,” said a player who chose to remain unknown.

Some senior players in the team have not yet renewed their contracts, this is a serious threat to the club as the domestic league resumes this coming weekend.

Players who were reported to have left the club include Carlos Mavhurume, Webster Tafa, Brendon Mpofu and Tatenda Tumba just to mention a few.

Reports emanating from the capital state that the club has been struggling financially lately which resulted in some players leaving the team during the January transfer window.

Meanwhile Dynamos and Highlanders brought in a number of players during the January transfer window through the sponsorship of ‘mighty’ Sakunda Holdings which they were engaged in late last year.

Dynamos brought numerous West African players from Nigeria and Ghana whereas Highlanders managed to sign number of players from the local teams.

The ambitious side Bulawayo Chiefs managed to get signatures of experienced players during the transfer window.

They brought in Perfect Chikwende and Obriel Chirinda as well as two west African players.

CAPS United are yet to sign former two time Soccer Star of the year Rodwell Chinyengetere who was released by FC Platinum and William Manondo from Harare City.

Green Machine last lifted the Zimbabwe Castle Larger Premier Soccer League in 2016.

They have 5 league titles altogether. They won in 1979, 1996, 2004, 2005, 2016.

Makepekepe represented the country in CAF Champions League four times in 1997, 2005, 2006 and in 2017.

CAPS United needs a financial muscle to pull them up from the situation they are facing.

If this situation continues the club might sink. It could be a nightmare for the Green Machine side.

CAPS United will face Black Rhinos over the weekend for their rescheduled fixture which was postponed late last year.
