Bulawayo – Two employees of Tendy Three Investments (TTI), the Bulawayo City Council partner in the parking revenue collection, were involved in an accident on Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a Toyota Hilux while hurrying to their offices to deposit daily collections.
The incident occurred at the corner of 9th Avenue and Robert Mugabe Way as the workers, who had spent the day collecting parking fees from drivers in Bulawayo’s city center, attempted to cross the road.
An onlooker at the scene reported that the group failed to check for oncoming traffic before stepping onto the roadway.
“They were in a rush, and one was hit by the Hilux, which wasn’t speeding,” said the witness.
“The other woman collapsed from shock after seeing her colleague get struck.”
An ambulance arrived promptly and transported the injured worker, who sustained minor injuries, to a nearby medical facility. The second employee, who had fainted, regained consciousness and was left at the scene after being assessed.
The accident has drawn attention to the risks faced by traffic enforcement workers, particularly during peak hours when roads are congested.
TTI officials confirmed they were aware of the incident but declined to comment further, stating that the matter was under review.
Police have urged pedestrians and motorists to exercise caution, especially in high-traffic zones.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
