Bikita Man Arrested for Possession of 2kg of Dagga

In a significant drug-related incident at Nyika Growth Point, Bikita, a 45-year-old man named Shadreck Sithole was arrested for unlawful possession of two kilograms of dagga.

The arrest took place last year on December 30, 2024, following a tip-off received by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) specializing in drugs and narcotics.

According to a spokesperson from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP),

“On 30/12/24, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Masvingo acted on a tip-off and arrested Shadreck Sithole (45) at Nyika Growth Point, Bikita for unlawful possession of two kilogrammes of dagga.”

This arrest comes just a day after three other individuals were apprehended in Beatrice for similar offenses. On December 29, 2024, Abisha Mateuro (38), Prince Javangwe (27), and Lovemore Elias (28) were caught with 16 sachets and one twist of dagga at Breamer Location.

“Meanwhile, Abisha Mateuro (38), Prince Javangwe (27), and Lovemore Elias (28) were arrested on 29/12/24 at Breamer Location, Beatrice for unlawful possession of 16 sachets and one twist of dagga,” ZRP spokesperson Paul Nyathi confirmed.

All four individuals are expected to appear in their respective regional courts soon, facing charges of unlawful possession of drugs.

The crackdown on drug-related offenses continues as authorities aim to address the growing concern of drug abuse in the region.
