GWERU – In a tragic incident early Sunday morning, seven individuals lost their lives when an Inter Africa bus collided with a stationary truck at the 330-kilometer marker along the Harare-Bulawayo Road, as confirmed by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
The crash occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m., leading to immediate emergency responses.
The injured were swiftly transported to Gweru Provincial Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been taken to the hospital mortuary for identification.
“The community has been shaken by this devastating accident,” a police spokesperson stated.
“Our investigations are ongoing, and we are working to establish the exact number of injured victims.”
In light of the tragic event, the ZRP has issued a stern warning regarding highway looting.
“We urge communities along highways to remember that looting goods from accident scenes and taking them for personal use, sale, or any other purpose is a serious crime,” the police emphasized in a statement.
As the investigation continues, authorities are calling for respect and caution on the roads to prevent further tragedies.
