MUREWA – The body of Taurai Sahanya, a 25-year-old man, was discovered floating in the Mazowe River on Thursday, prompting an investigation by local police. Initial reports suggest that Sahanya was murdered following a dispute over a sex worker.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the incident via their official X handle on Friday. In their statement, they reported, “Police in Murewa are investigating a case of murder in which the body of Taurai Sahanya, 25, was found floating in Mazowe River on 5 December 2024 near Copa Cabana Business Centre.”
Authorities noted that the victim exhibited signs of severe physical trauma, including bruises on his hands, a deformed forehead, and a swollen left eye.
Investigations revealed that Sahanya was allegedly attacked by Magejeni Shelton and two other unidentified suspects after an argument erupted regarding a sex worker. The police are actively seeking information from the public to aid their investigation.
“We appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information about the suspects to come forward and assist with our inquiries,” the ZRP urged.
As the investigation continues, the community remains on alert, hoping for swift justice in this tragic case.
