President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), has commissioned and handed over 202 houses and 54 vehicles to the ZDF.
The houses were constructed under the ZDF Dzivarasekwa and Imbizo Barracks Institutional Accommodation Project.
“The commissioning and handover of these houses is a testament to my government’s commitment to providing modern, safe, and affordable housing for public sector employees and citizens,” President Mnangagwa said.
The President emphasized the importance of prioritizing members of the defense forces, who serve and advance national interests while defending the country’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
“Providing decent accommodation and safe working spaces is critical for the forces to focus on their primary contribution towards modernizing, industrializing, and growing the economy,” President Mnangagwa added.
He urged stakeholders in the built environment to play their part in accelerating the realization of national housing targets.
“Human settlements must always be accompanied by basic services, including roads, recreational facilities, education, and health facilities, as well as water and sanitation infrastructure,” President Mnangagwa emphasized.
