A male teacher at a Shurugwi boarding school has appeared in court facing a rape charge.
The teacher, who denies the charge, allegedly raped a 17-year-old female pupil during an individual extra lesson.
“I did not hold extra lessons with the pupil,” the teacher denied.
“The minor is being used by teachers I have bad blood with.”
The teacher also alleged that he had recently stopped the pupil from stealing.
The incident allegedly occurred on September 16 at the school. The pupil reported the incident, leading to the teacher’s arrest.
The case is being tried at Gweru Magistrates Court, with Tafadzwa Guzete prosecuting. The teacher was remanded out of custody.
