Scottland FC’s promotion to the Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) has been rewarded with a generous donation from Wicknell Chivayo, a controversial businessman.
Chivayo fulfilled his pledge, gifting the team:
- 20 Toyota Aqua vehicles
- US$1.6 million (including an additional US$600,000)
This follows Scottland FC’s decisive 3-0 victory against Black Mambas, securing their PSL spot.
Chivayo’s Congratulations
“I congratulate the team and Hon. Scott Sakupwanya on their incredible win… True to my word, I have delivered 20 Toyota Aquas to boost morale and reward their pursuit of excellence.”
Chivayo’s Pledge
“I will honour the US$1 million pledge… and commit an additional US$600,000 to assist their PSL journey.”
Chivayo’s Vision
“I believe that with the right resources and motivation, Scottland FC is set to make history as the first PSL champions in their debut season… WATCH THE SPACE!”
Scottland FC’s Journey
The team’s promotion was sealed after a dramatic match against Karoi FC, which was abandoned due to fan violence. The Northern Region Soccer League awarded Scottland FC a 3-0 victory.
Owner’s Reaction
Scott Sakupwanya, ZANU-PF legislator and club owner, expressed gratitude to Chivayo for his support.
This significant investment is expected to enhance Scottland FC’s competitiveness in the PSL.
However, the promotion is still to be confirmed as Karoi FC have appealed the decision to award Scottland FC the match that was abandoned.
