Gutu CCC Loyalist and Activist Walks Free After Assaulting Village Head Over Free Food Aid

Political Reporter

Gutu CCC activist Wilson Guvamatanga, 62, left the local magistrate court with a smile after being acquitted of assault charges against his uncle, Village Head Takakurumbira Guvamatanga, 79.

Magistrate Edwin Marecha ruled in Wilson’s favor, citing lack of evidence and the absence of supporting witnesses from the complainant.

Takakurumbira had alleged that Wilson attacked him after being denied government food aid on political grounds, but he failed to substantiate his claims in court. Advocate Martin Mureri, a human rights lawyer, challenged Takakurumbira’s testimony, resulting in heated exchanges during the proceedings.

Wilson, who spent a night in police custody following his arrest, maintained his innocence, attributing the accusations to political differences. He noted that his uncle is a Zanu PF loyalist, which he believes influenced the allegations against him.
