Children Rescued as Couple is Arrested for Rape and Human Trafficking

A couple from the Western Cape, aged 46 and 38, has been arrested on serious charges of rape and human trafficking following a coordinated operation by multiple agencies.

The operation was led by the Western Cape Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations, with assistance from the SAPS K9 Unit, Melkbosstrand SAPS, and support from the Departments of Social Development and Health.

After the couple’s arrest, officials took swift action to ensure the safety of their two young children, placing them in the care of social workers for immediate safety and medical assessments.

The investigation involved contributions from various government bodies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), all collaborating to uncover and address these serious allegations.

Authorities emphasized the importance of such joint efforts in tackling human trafficking and protecting vulnerable individuals.
