Karoi Man Fined for Negligent Driving
In another incident, Denzel Batson, a 21-year-old from Karoi, was fined US$150 and had his driver’s license endorsed after being convicted of negligent driving. This conviction stemmed from an incident on October 13, 2024, where Batson struck a 4-year-old boy who was crossing the road. The court found that Batson failed to maintain proper lookout while driving his Ford Ranger, resulting in the child sustaining injuries, including swelling and bruises on his forehead. In addition to the fine, Batson is prohibited from driving for four months, and failure to pay the fine could lead to a one-month prison sentence.
These cases highlight the legal system’s response to both theft and negligent driving, reflecting broader societal concerns regarding safety and accountability.
