President Mnangagwa Advocates for Enhanced China-Africa Synergies

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has emphasized the importance of bridging knowledge gaps to drive modernization, business, and economic growth on the African continent.

Mnangagwa was speaking at the 8th conference of Chinese and African entrepreneurs, he urged enterprises to intensify dialogue and engagement on trade, industrial, and value chain development.

“Africa’s transition to contemporary skills and technological trends must be able to ride on the shoulders of Chinese enterprises that are ahead in terms of development,” President Mnangagwa said.

He highlighted the significant trade volumes between China and Africa, totaling US$284 billion in 2023, according to the International Trade Center. However, he noted that more work is needed to maximize the potential of the China-Africa bloc.

In the context of Zimbabwe, President Mnangagwa revealed that China accounts for 18% of the country’s exports and 15% of its imports. He expressed the country’s readiness to leverage new partnership initiatives under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

“With a highly literate population and skilled human capital, Zimbabwe is fast becoming a knowledge-driven and industrializing country,” President Mnangagwa said.

He emphasized the need for continuous collaboration and knowledge sharing between China and Africa to drive economic growth and development. By working together, both parties can address knowledge gaps and tap into the vast potential of the China-Africa partnership.
