The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has issued a warning to the public about the dangers of offering lifts to strangers after a recent robbery incident.

On August 30, 2024, a motorist driving a Nissan Sunny was robbed of US$2000 by two suspects he had picked up en route from Chegutu to Harare.

The ZRP is urging motorists to exercise caution and refrain from offering rides to unknown individuals, as it endangers lives and contributes to criminal activities on the roads.

“We urge anyone with information regarding this robbery or similar incidents to report to the nearest police station,” said the police.

Remember, your safety is paramount. Avoid hitchhiking and offering lifts to strangers to prevent such incidents.
