Bulawayo – The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested two people in connection with a murder case that occurred in Emganwini Suburb.
The murder involves the wife of the deceased.
The two, Malcolm Wilson Martin (44) from Queens Park West Suburb and Bonakele Tshabalala (44) from Emganwini Suburb were arrested for the murder of Bornwell Kamanga (40) from Emganwini Suburb.
Press, Public and International Relations Officer for Bulawayo Province Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the matter.
The incident happened on Thursday the 7th of this month.
Police state that their informant indicated that Kamanga was last seen alive at Amarula Sports Bar in Emganwini Suburb in Bulawayo drinking beer at night on the day he was last seen alive. He was in the company of his wife Bonakele Tshabalala and other three male adults.
It is said that the couple quarrelled over infidelity issues. Their drinking mates left them without having solved the issue.
The next morning Kamanga’s body was found lying lifeless in a pool of blood at an open space behind the Sports Bar at Food for Less Shopping Centre in same suburbs.
A broken blood stained brown beer bottle which is suspected to have been used as a weapon was found about two metres away from the body.
With the information from their informer, Police tried to locate his wife at the given residential address but she was not found.
On Friday police got a tip off towards midnight of the whereabouts of the accused persons and they made a follow up, leading to the arrest of the two.
They were found at a hideout at Killarney Squatter Camp some twenty kilometres away.
Martin was found still in the blood stained clothes that he wore during the commission of the crime.
Insp. Abednico indicates that Martin was questioned of the events of the night in question. He thus responded,
“… on the night in question Bonakele Tshabalala came to his work place running away from her husband who was beating her because of infidelity. He then opened for her and she entered into his work premises and started fighting with him.”
“Malcom Wilson Martin then broke a bottle and stabbed the now deceased 4 times. Soon after realising that the deceased was motionless, the two ran away from the scene,” said Insp. Ncube.
The two suspects Martin and Tshabalala will soon appear in court facing murder charges.
