Motorists are now facing several dangers of being attacked by muggers and carjackers who are targeting them at all roadsides.
Thugs are devising every evil plan on a daily basis just to rob motorists.
In Harare carjackers are targeting and tailing the would be victims. The carjackers will be driving.
A victim of car mugging from Harare has narrated that last night around 7 pm he was driving behind a Volkswagen Bora vehicle which had about 4 male occupants and just after about 300m the driver switched lanes to the outer lane and drove slowly until he was adjacent with him on the sideway.
The victim motorist related that the man who was pursuing him switched lanes again and fell back behind him. After that both vehicles stopped at a traffic light near Harare drive in Marlborough Suburb.
The driver of the VW is said to have disembarked from his vehicle and approached the man he was pursuing by his driver’s window.
He shouted angrily and demanded to know why the other man had hit his car from behind.
“I said no I never hit your car. He tried to open my door and the other occupants came to my passenger side and attempted to open my doors. Fortunately I always keep my doors locked and they failed to get in,” he said.
The carjack driver had the intention of provoking the other driver so that he gets out of the car, and in the process get robbed or mugged.
Luckily he did not respond and ignored them he then drove straight to Marlborough police station assuming they would follow but instead they drove away towards Pomona.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police advised that it is now the robbers’ new Modus Operandi and in other instances they actually apply sudden braking so hard in front of another car and use the same tactic.
Police advise that if people come across similar circumstances they must drive away and they should desist from coming out of their car and then report to the nearest police station.
