A tragic road accident occurred on the Bulawayo-Plumtree Road, resulting in the loss of six precious lives.
The accident was confirned by Commissioner Nyathi, spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
“We urge all motorists to exercise extreme caution and adhere to road rules and regulations to prevent such accidents.”
On August 11, 2024, at around 8 AM, a Nissan Caravan kombi carrying 19 church congregants veered off the road and overturned, resulting in the deaths of six people. The victims were identified as Chamunorwa Jejeje (32), Nokulunga Ncube (43), Salathiselu Zikhali Ndlovu (60), Marry Jongwe (62), Essley Mbewe (58), and Privilege Simango (23).
“The kombi’s right front and rear tyres deflated, causing the driver to lose control,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
“We implore drivers to ensure their vehicles are in good working condition before embarking on journeys.”
Seven others were injured in the accident and are receiving medical attention. The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterated the importance of observing speed limits and checking for mechanical faults to curb road accidents.
