“The Government, through the Department of Civil Protection, will assist with the burial of the nine people who perished in the Chikozho bus accident,” said Minister Ezra Chadzamira, Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution.

The accident occurred on Friday evening near the Topora Business Centre in Masvingo Central, resulting in nine fatalities and 30 injuries.

“We will do our best to support the families of the victims and ensure that they receive the necessary assistance,” Minister Chadzamira added.

Officer Commanding Masvingo province, Commissioner Crispen Charumbira, stated that the police are continuing investigations into the accident.

“The bus has been taken to VID for further investigations, and what is troubling is that not only was the bus carrying 105 passengers, but there was also an unverified number of people on top of the bus,” Commissioner Charumbira said.

Survivor Kudzanayi Kwangware, who sustained spinal cord injuries, expressed concern about the lack of medical attention.

“I have not been attended to by a medical doctor since I arrived here yesterday,” Kwangware said.

Another survivor, Ananias Matsuto, who sustained severe arm injuries, considered himself lucky to be alive.

The police have released the names of the victims, and the Government has pledged to support the affected families.
