The world governing body FIFA has upheld its decision of suspending Zimbabwe from international football.

FIFA gave the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) an order to reinstate the ZIFA board led by Felton Kamambo that was suspended due to corruption allegations and sexual harassment. Up to date the SRC has failed to prove these allegations, no concrete evidence has been brought up.

On Thursday the FIFA council held a meeting in the middle east country in Qatar with 199 members voting for Zimbabwe’s ban and only two members voted against the ban.

Zimbabwe and Kenya are still banned from international football due to government interference in sport. Russia is suspended from all sport activities due to its aggression on Ukraine.

The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has not reversed it’s decision as ordered by FIFA and this means that Zimbabwe will miss the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as well as the 2023 CHAN qualifiers in which the draws for the two tournaments will be conducted soon.

This suspension has a negative impact on players as they can not be signed from one team to another, our domestic league is not recognized, the champions of this season will not be able to play in the CAF Champions league until the suspension is lifted.

If the suspension continues, the dream for CAPS United FC and Dynamos FC partaking in the CAF Super league will be shattered.

Our sources within Bulawayo giants Highlanders Football Club say the club has a chancesl to participate in the super league.

The SRC and ZIFA should come into mutual understanding, not for their sake but for the sake of the footballers.

In order for FIFA to remove the suspension their terms are still the same, the SRC should reinstate the Felton Kamambo led board back into the office.
