Bulawayo Chiefs Football Club has fired its two assistant coaches.

Mark Mathe and Farai Tawachera were fired on Tuesday morning following a streak of poor results by the team lately.

Last weekend the ‘Ninjas’ went out to hunt but they came back home empty handed.

The team lost 2-1 against the army side Black Rhinos FC at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare last weekend, as the team’s head coach Nilton Terrosso had left the team in the good hands of his assistants.

Football fans had high expectations from the Ninjas since the team spent money to bring veteran players to beef up their squad, but to date the team keeps on going down and are fighting relegation.

Amakhosi Amahle last won a match on Valentine’s day eve against the Zvishavane based FC Platinum at Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo, from then the team has played 6 matches losing 4 matches and drawing two.

The team on Tuesday decided to part ways with two assistants who failed to get better results from their last weekend’s assignment.

In a press statement released by the team :
We would like to announce that the Team has mutually agreed to part ways with Assistant Coaches Mark Mathe and Farai Tawachera with
immediate effect.

Bulawayo Chiefs brought back Thulani ‘Toots’ Sibanda who will work with the Portuguese coach Nilton Terrosso who was spared.

Chiefs’ next assignment is against Benjani Mwaruwari coached side Ngezi Platinum Stars FC this weekend at Luveve Stadium.

The issue of clubs sacking coaches is becoming prevalent in local football, last week Golden Eagles FC parted ways with Warriors legend Joel Luphahla who was signed by Highlanders FC the day after he left Eagles.

Last month in February Ngezi Platinum Stars FC fired Rodwell Dhlakama who was accused of asking for bribes from players. He was replaced by the former warriors striker.

On Tuesday morning Mwaruwari was unveiled as the new head coach for the platinum miners, Ngezi Platinum Stars FC.
He will be assisted by Bongani Mafu.
