FOOTBALL, is undoubtedly the number one followed sport world over.

It is unfortunate that followers of the game, mostly men and even women, tend to focus mainly on men’s teams only.

Stadiums will fill to capacity when such local teams as Highlanders FC, Dynamos FC and far afield in Europe where Real Madrid FC, Barcelona FC and in England where Liverpool FC, Machester City would be playing.

What is most disappointing is that even women themselves, sometimes forget that the female football needs their support.

Despite the lack of support, many young talented women have taken football to be their professional career. Some have made it big and some especially from our local leagues have fallen by the wayside.

Born in Plumtree in 2004, now aged 19, a female football star, Louise Moyo, is a Mighty Warriors’ legend in making.

Lousie is a gem when she touches the ball. She is a branded magician made of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s abilities.

“She is the next big thing” Said her Coach, Lee Mangena

The young sensational plays as winger for a still growing, Street Set FC under Bulawayo’s football guru Mangena who is also the club owner.

Louise, a product of Plumtree’s Tokwana Secondary School, makes sure that she puts her 100% on the pitch in every match she plays.

Since her debut for Tokwana Primary team in 2016, as a grade five pupil, the youngster never gave up on her dream.

“I like football, it is my dream sport” That’s Louise’s words she shared with Zim GBC News.

The Street Set FC winger is a problem solver of her team, she scores freely whenever her team needs her. In her recent performance against Bulawayo Galaxy, Louise contributed with a super hattrick in her team’s 4-1 win.

“Anyone discouraging her will be doing a deservice to Zimbabwe. She is a raw talent.” Said her coach

On the pitch, she is not Louise Moyo, she is nicknamed ‘Plumtree’ by her teammates. This is for a fact that off course she is from Plumtree but her nickname resembles more than that to the coach.

Mangena believes Louise is Plumtree’s representative in the field of football.

Mangena is also a mentor to Harare City’s Kimberly Maseko and Faith Sigola who is living her dream in South Africa.

Other professionals that went through Mangena’s hands are Tatenda Bhunu, Venessa Muzarabani, Hazel Katombe, Ropa Sadomba, Shantel Ncube. Thus, Louise has emerged from the capable hands of coach Mangena.

The 19-year old ‘Plumtree’ is an admirer of Manchester City’s women team and with that she wishes to play on that stage at professional level to fulfill her dream.

Louise was raised by her grandmother when her father left Zimbwabwe for South Africa in search for greener pastures soon after Louise’s mother’s death. Louise was young when her mother died and she never got to see or know her. This alone, is a fact that pushes her to exceed expectations on the pitch whenever she is given a chance.

“I want to play football outside the country. I earn some money to change my life and that of family grandmother.” Said Louise
